Tape machines

I regularly servce various types of tape machines, including reel to reel, consumer cassette and portastudio type machines. Most of the time issues relate to degraded belts in the tape transport mechanisms, but other issues such as dead amplifiers and tape heads are a cause of nonworking units.

Calibrating tape machines is an accurate science and requires quite a lot of patience and time to complete. I use cassette calibration tapes and aim for approximate calibration, workable for the general purpose of the machine.

Modifications for tape speed effects are also possible, and I have a good stock of reel to reels and portastudios if you’re looking for a machine to experiment with.
